Chapter Six: The Prophesy of Ilverzah

I haven't posted a new chapter from my middle school fantasy, The Prophesy of Ilverzah, for awhile.  I am still in the process of editing this one, but hopefully will be done soon.  I welcome all comments and feedback.  If you want to read the first 5 chapters, you can find them under the "My Writing" tab at the top.

Chapter Six

“Magic, what are you talking about?” demanded Tom.

“Of course magic, how else could I come through to this dimension?” the faerie retorted. “You guys really have absolutely no idea about any of this, do you? No understanding whatsoever.”

Mara and Tom both shook their heads. Mara spoke, “This morning we didn't even know that faeries exist, or parallel universes, or even energy fields. We have just been going on instinct, using our gut feelings.”

Nanowrimo: Day 12

Day 12 of Nanowrimo!!! Congratulations to everyone who has made it this far!  I've had a strange week of writing, pretty much hating my novel and the circular conversations the characters were having.  When I received my week 2 pep talk saying that it was normal to hate your book about now, I felt relieved.  Even though I've done this before, I felt pretty good about this story idea, I love the main character, and was disappointed to feel it going nowhere.  Maybe there is a lesson in detachment there...

Nanowrimo: Day 5

I am having an interesting time with my Nanowrimo novel this year.  For those of you who don't know, Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month and is a fun, fly by the seat of your pants challenge to write a (bad first draft) 50,000 word novel in the month of November along with approximately 200,000 other people worldwide. 

So far this year, I am pretty on track with my word count, but my plan was to be way ahead by now.  I thought because my kids are in school all day that I would have 5 uninterrupted hours to work on my novel and would basically be able to take weekends off.  Wrong.  Somehow, this hasn't been the case.  I've had meetings and obligations and things that come up.  Oh yeah, and the novel writing club that I am helping with at my kids' school... 

Book Review: The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

My Thoughts: 
I just tore through this book - the exciting third installment of the Iron Fey series.  Kagawa continues with her amazing world building, something I love so much.  The Nevernever that she creates is so fun, strange and familiar at the same time.  There is a great mix of the faery tales we all know and love and new additions.  The back story from the other two books was presented really well, probably even better than in the second book.  Again this book is full of action, adventure, romance, heartbreak, friendship and twists.
